From pixels to possibilities

Building trust and clarity through thoughtful user experience design.

Website UX + WordPress Development
Henry Smith Foundation

A digital presence for one of the UK’s oldest and most respected funders.

Helping The Henry Smith Foundation connect more effectively with the communities they serve.

The brief

Designing for purpose, impact, and accessibility.

The Henry Smith Foundation has been supporting people and communities across the UK for nearly four centuries. As a major grant-maker, their focus is on funding work that addresses social and economic disadvantage with insight, care, and intention.

We were tasked with leading the UX and development of a new website to support their shift towards being more relational and impact-driven. Built in WordPress, the new site not only presents their values and work clearly, but also improves the way potential grantees interact with funding information and eligibility criteria.

Overview

Bringing clarity, purpose, and empathy to every part of the digital experience.

By mapping real user journeys and collaborating closely with the Henry Smith team, we streamlined the grant discovery process, reducing friction and encouraging better quality, more relevant applications.
The new site reflects the Foundation’s integrity, thoughtfulness, and approachability, pairing a calm, open aesthetic with intuitive content structure to guide users through complex information.

Every aspect of the build was designed to serve the user. From thoughtful content design to smooth interactions, the new site helps people find what they need, and feel confident doing so.

“Working with Mallard and Claret has been a smooth experience from start to finish. The team were clear, timely, articulate and supportive throughout the process and our website is now professional, easy to use and cleverly made. I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone looking for a slick, professional and highly functional site.”
