The brief
Reducing SMS costs by reimagining how DPD talks to its customers.
DPD is the UK’s leading parcel delivery company, known for its industry-leading customer service — including Predict, the service that notifies recipients of their one-hour delivery window via SMS.
But with over 2 million parcels delivered each day, the cost of these SMS messages was immense. We were asked to create a new customer-facing mobile app that could deliver the same great experience at a lower cost — using push notifications instead.
The key challenge was onboarding. We needed to help users sign up, verify their device, and enable push notifications as quickly and seamlessly as possible. Through a clean interface and a series of short coaching screens, users are guided through setup and encouraged to personalise their delivery preferences — including redirecting parcels, choosing safe drop-off points, and more.
